Modern Light Fixtures
Modern light fixtures are one of the last things most people think of when doing their interior design. You see people spending their hard earned money on things like a throw rug or some other elements in the home long before they even consider light fixtures.
Don’t get me wrong here; it’s not wrong to spend your money on furnishings. It’s actually inevitable for people to go that route considering how much advertizing is done on home furnishings.
But when it boils right down you have to admit that nothing finishes up a room like some modern light fixtures. A floor lamp or some other fancy lighting does wonder for any room and should be given some serious thought.
One of the most overlooked light fixtures is the floor lamp. They have to be both functional and decorative at the same time. Any other furnishing in the room only needs to fill one role to be either decorative or functional, but a floor lamp needs to do both. They have to be pleasing to look at while giving enough light to make them useful. Another thing, floor lamps should not produce a glare or it will be difficult to take and either cause headaches or strain on the eyes.
Shades are another issue when it comes to modern light fixtures such as a floor lamps or even a table lamp can make or break the room by the use of a proper shade. Try to avoid shades that have patterns as they are not very practical for giving an even light. You should always choose shades that are light in color to give a uniform and even light. Try coordinating your floor lamp shades with other modern light fixtures like a table lamp to really make your room come to life.
Lamps aren’t the only type of light fixtures that you can incorporate in your room and should really be only a small part. Try matching the shades of your lamps up with some wall scones or even your overhead lighting and see how much of a difference it can make.
It doesn’t end with the shades try and match the base of all your modern light fixtures as well. It does wonders to tie the room together. Another thing to keep in mind that if you try and add something to your room that does not fit it creates a room that is off balance. Perfection is in the detail and finding the perfect light fixtures for your home can sometimes be a difficult task.
Trying to find a set of modern light fixtures that will match your room furnishings is the key to having a room that will attract attention and become something you’ll be proud of. Don’t try and add antique lighting into a room with modern furnishings. Some of the best looking modern light fixtures to consider adding to your room could be a chandelier for in the dining room.
In some case you could add a flush mount light or even a recessed light to highlight a painting on the wall. The choices are almost endless and in the end it is ultimately up to you.
